You're stuck with me now, and you'll be wise to remember that not only am I a jealous lover, I'm a vindictive asshole. But I loved how well she fit with Grigori. Did I like her any more by the end of the book? just a smidge. Remember what I said about Chelsea? She started to peel back like an onion. But I can tell you from this book, that this author has a FIRM grasp on the lifestyle and it shows in her writing. I do not tend to read mafia books, or BDSM, or dom-sub books much. This is the point where I started to sit up straighter, listen more intently, wanting to know what happens next.
The middle started to take us down a valley which then picked back up around the 80% mark. The intro to the book started with a bang. No, Grigori was no monster, but he is a man of his reputation. My taste for pitch black books have shown me what human monsters can be. There can be no other man to handle Chelsea but Grigori. Now I really enjoyed how his character was introduced.and how his character BLOOMED to become who he was meant to be. Once she's able to receive this stability, this world where she knows what to expect, we find her finally becoming who she was meant to be. But as the story continues to unfold, we find that she's just a girl who needs a strong hand. Welcome to a whole other world that branches from this university of playthings. Book 1 was just that.only a taste, only an introduction. I was amazed by how much more depth these characters had vs our introduction into this world. It is quite evident how much this author grew between book 1 and book 2. Here we have a character we were brought to hate in book 1, only to find her layers.
