She didn’t want to call for help because her cousin Kelly would come and she would make fun of her. She tried to bring back the boat to the shore but she couldn’t do it. Patricia though that tomorrow she would go back to the last with the old watch.Patricia knew she had made a mistake as soon as she got the canoe into the water. On their way home, Maggie appeared with a garter snake and Patricia was kind of scared.
The Other Enders where sitting around the store and one of them talked to Kelly and she answered very bad as always. On the way they called on Bruce and Christie. On the evening, Aunt Gennie sent them to the store to get the paper as always. Kelly was very impressed on how Patricia was doing, she was doing very well because she remembered how Ruth did it so she copied her.
She though that maybe Kelly could teach Patricia how to paddle the canoe. Now Patricia knew something about the old watch, but how did it came to the underfloor? On the afternoon, Patricia wanted to go to the cabin but Aunt Ginnie had other plans. Aunt Ginnie explained Patricia that her grandmother had another fiancé before Mr.Reid but he died, his name was Wilfred. His name wasn’t Wilfred, so she still didn’t know who Wilfred was. While they were waiting for the others to come, Patricia asked some questions about her grandfather. The next morning, Patricia went to the Main Beach with Aunt Ginnie. When she got up it was five o’clock so she needed to go back and pretend that she spent the whole afternoon with Kelly and Trevor.
Patricia closed her eyes and though about all of what she saw that afternoon. She spent seven hours exploring on the past but on the present it was still two o’clock so she had all the afternoon to lie and think. She came with the solution that when she winds the old watch it will take it to the past. She took the watch and it was two o’clock, she couldn’t believe it. Patricia wanted to know the time, she left the cabin at two o’clock. Patricia had her hair wet so what happened was real.
